Vebego Cleaning & Services has been participating in the Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (VCDO) since 2019. This is an initiative by Voka to help companies embed sustainability in what they do by implementing at least 10 sustainable actions each year. Here are three of the ten actions.
Social impact is deeply rooted in who we are. Through the Vebego Foundation, we are committed to supporting colleagues, children and young people who could do with extra help. The foundation supports individual requests for assistance, volunteering initiatives by colleagues and collaborations with social partners, both in Belgium and beyond. In this way, we translate our commitment into concrete actions that contribute to equal opportunities and a better tomorrow.
Vebego Cleaning & Services and training centre AHLEX are launching the first training programme specifically for cleaners at Brussels Airport. It focuses on the unique challenges of the airport environment. ‘With the Vebego Academy, we want to strengthen our colleagues in their role,’ says Kim Goedmakers, Facilities Manager at Vebego. "They are more than just cleaners: they contribute to the experience of every traveller. A clean airport makes all the difference.
Thanks to this training, our people are aware of their impact, feel appreciated and grow in their profession. We deliberately chose an interactive, practical approach instead of a traditional PowerPoint presentation. That is why we developed this programme together with Ahlex, the Aviation Hub for Learning & Experience."
Vebego Cleaning & Services works together with Made Blue, an organisation that focuses on creating a positive impact in the field of clean water. We help support water projects in regions where clean drinking water is scarce. This way, we can reduce our ecological footprint and at the same time contribute to the access to safe and clean water for people who desperately need it.
As a company, we believe it is important that our colleagues' rights are in line with sector-level agreements. As a cleaning service provider, we follow the collective labour agreement of the employers' organisation ABSU (Algemene Belgische Schoonmaak Unie) to ensure a working environment that is fair and respectful for everyone. In this way, we contribute to a fair workplace, where dialogue and cooperation are central. We are also actively committed to ensuring that sector agreements are regularly updated so that they remain relevant and the interests of all parties involved are safeguarded.
